March 2010- Callout for Artists
With Cleveland Street Theatre complex’s amazing versatile Theatre (ranges from 100–145 seats in several formations and includes great floorspace and aerial rigging) and a huge range of 9 studios (from the Pitt St campus to Cleveland, including an edit suite, and mirrors and pianos in some rooms) this is a great, central space for new, emerging and established artists in dance, performance art, theatre, music, film, visual arts and photography.
Cleveland Street Theatre is gearing up for the next show following the sell-out shows for the Sydney University Opera company. Recent events include a young fashion designer’s opening and exhibition, as well as housing numerous rehearsals and dance and yoga classes. On the slate, we have some comedy, Shakespeare, New Australian work, the return of the Sydney French Theatre, along with ACTT shows including Blood Wedding, directed by Aarne Neeme. The theatre will also be a part of the Sydney Fringe this year and we look forward to an incarnation of the Imagine Festival in October 2010, held last year as part of the City of Sydney’s Art & About program.
For the remainder of 2010 we are calling out for:
Short turnaround gigs for March – 2 week proposals for early June – Proposals for July – 2 week proposals for early August – Sydney Fringe proposals 10–26 September – Early thoughts and ideas for the Imagine Festival – October and late November and December proposals – Specifically, we’re currently looking for a one-act theatre performance to partner a current proposal – In very quiet periods, the theatre can be hired out for rehearsals where theatre space and rigging is required
