ACTT is housed in two of central Sydney’s most exciting and artistic buildings, the St Laurence Arts Centre and Cleveland St Theatre. They provide you with the creative environment to flourish. In 2007 ACTT commenced running the Cleveland St Theatre (formerly the Performance Space) ten minutes walk away from the main Pitt St campus and it is proving to be an excellent addition to ACTT, giving actors the opportunity to showcase their work in a professional acting space and to work alongside professional companies.

MAIN CAMPUS

505 PITT ST SYDNEY

Formerly the school hall for Christ Church St Laurence, and later an integral part of the St Laurence Arts Centre. With its exposed brick walls, timber floor, stained glass windows and cathedral ceiling, the Main Hall on the top level, has been adapted for use as a flexible performance space. Acoustic ceiling baffles focus the spoken voice by reducing reverberation. Special curtaining enables total blackout during performances. Theatre lighting and sound systems are installed and operated by our technical production students for ACTT productions and other events such as graduations and theatre industry forums. A variety of performance and event modes are possible in the Main Hall, with seating capacity between 75 and 200. Adjacent to the Main Hall, on the Upper Level, are storage rooms for props, staging and costumes.

REHEARSAL/CLASS SPACES

The lower level comprises 4 studios/classrooms: – Studios 1, 2 and 6 are general purpose studios – Studio 4 is a special purpose filming studio, including AV equipment. Each of the general purpose studios includes an upright rehearsal piano; Studio 6 also includes mirrors.
